StratusLab signs Memorandum of Understanding with VENUS-C

venus-c-mou.jpeg StratusLab has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the VENUS-C project, an initiative to develop, test and deploy a large, Cloud computing infrastructure for science and SMEs in Europe, which is funded by the EC under the 7th Framework Programme. The two projects have already begun an informal collaboration focussing on the areas of common interest in Cloud Computing; the new MoU formalises this relationship and lays out a roadmap for collaboration which will ensure interoperability between the software offerings of the two projects.

According to Andrea Manieri, Project Director of VENUS-C, the collaboration will “pave the ground for enhanced Cloud services for Europe's research community by sharing insights and new know-how from both projects”. Manieri's sentiments were echoed by StratusLab Project Director Dr. Charles Loomis “Further work will help clarify interactions between IaaS and PaaS cloud infrastructures, help improve both projects' software and ultimately, cloud services for researchers throughout Europe.”
